Carter County

Bethany House – The purpose of Bethany House is development of effective grassroots programs that address local needs.  United Way funding is used to meet the needs of families and individuals in emergencies.

Boy Scouts (Simon Kenton) - The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to serve others by helping to instill values in young people and, in other ways, prepare them to make ethical choices over their lifetime in achieving their full potential. Funding is used to support membership, program and Unit service functions.

Carter County 4-H - 4-H is a community of young people learning leadership, citizenship and life skills to become self-directing, productive and contributing members of society. Funding is used for registration fees, 4-H workshops and camps, awards and operating costs directly related to the running program.

Carter County Public Library - The library goal is to sere the informational, educational, and recreational reading needs of the community. Funding will be used to support and expand the genealogy research program.

East Carter Adult Education – This agency provides GED and Adult Basic Education programs.  Funding is used to cover expenses directly related to providing education services.

First Book-Carter County – The mission of First Book is to provide new books to Carter County children in need.  Funding is used to purchase books.

Girl Scouts (Wilderness Road) – Girl Scouting builds girls of courage confidence and character who make the world a better place. Funding is used to provide scholarships for girls and for operating expenses the result in direct services to girls.

Grahn School Community Center – The mission of this agency is to help improve the quality of lives for families in the Grahn community and surrounding areas by providing services in education,  job skills training, health, and emergency and basic needs outreach.  United Way funds are used to provide basic needs and emergency assistance for families, to expand and improve literacy and tutoring programs and to cover expenses directly related to running the programs.

Grayson Meals on Wheels – The purpose of this agency is to provide hot, nutritious meals to seniors, disabled individuals and those in need of assistance.  United Way funding is used to purchase food and operate the mobile kitchen used to serve their clients.

Northeast Kentucky Community Action Agency – Northeast’s vision is to help people help themselves and each other so that they can become more self-sufficient. Funding is used to help low income families who are financially unstable during an emergency.

Project Merry Christmas - The purpose of this agency is to provide Christmas presents to needy children 12 and under in Carter County. Funding is used to purchase sweatshirts and for a Christmas meal.

"Shop With A Cop" – The purpose of this program is to provide a positive relationship between kids and police officers while allowing kids the opportunity to purchase Christmas presents for themselves and other in their family.

West Carter Adult Education - The purpose on West Carter Adult Education is to empower people in our community through the acquisition of basic skills, to realize self-fulfillment, independence, and attainment of the own goals.
