Covid-19 Response Fund Application

About the United Way of Northeast Kentucky COVID-19 Response Fund:

Led by a partnership between United Way of Northeast Kentucky (UWNEK), community volunteers, donors and private partners, the UWNEK COVID-19 Response Fund will award operating grants to help organizations that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Grants will be awarded on a rolling basis to nonprofits in our joint service region (Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Greenup and Lawrence counties in Kentucky).

Given the immediate needs throughout our region, the Fund is currently focused on providing general operating support grants to nonprofits whose operations address the basic needs of vulnerable populations that are under additional strain due to the pandemic. The Fund is designed to be adaptable and transparent in its goals and focus, which will evolve as community members and nonprofits in our region share their needs.

Please note: This is a fluid situation. We expect that there will undoubtedly be a crucial need for funds to aid in the rebuilding of people’s lives, along with many unanticipated community needs many months from now. We will continue to update this page, and will evolve the structure and purpose of the fund to respond to the needs and progress in our communities.

Information for those Seeking Grants from the Response Fund:

Please review the information below. Note: We will update the fund information as the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic change rapidly over time. Please check that you are responding to the most current version.

To expedite the process, there is no formal application at this time. Instead, we are asking interested nonprofits to complete and submit the form below if you are providing coronavirus related relief to the Northeast Kentucky’s most vulnerable populations. The application form requests a brief description of the services provided, along with other available funding sources, and the amount requested. If applying for expense reimbursement, an invoice or other related information would be helpful. Also, if the applicant is cooperating with other agencies, please mention that as well.

Grants will be made based on agency need, population need, population served, and impact of the services on the target group; and may be awarded in full, partial, or not at all based on the availability of funds to distribute. Grant awards will be decided and made public by the UWNEK COVID-19 Response Fund Council, made up of representatives from United Way of Northeast Kentucky’s board of directors, volunteers and donors.
